I woke up on the morning of Ella Grace’s delivery and I had HORRIBLE morning sickness. Really, it’s been my only day so far that I’ve felt sick. I made it to the hospital around 11:00a.m. and after spending about 20 minutes looking for a parking spot, I walked into Felicia’s room as they were preparing her for surgery. I was downing a large bottle of water and munching on saltines, while photographing the moment that was unfolding. I had not yet told Felicia that I was pregnant and decided to hold off until after HER little girl was born, completely recognizing that this was her day.
Well, I was able to stay for 4 hours, photographing before-hand and in the nursery. My favorite shots of the day are the feet-stamping and the dad seeing his new baby for the first time. So, after I got those shots, I wrote Felicia a quick note and left the hospital. Later that night, she texted me and told me that her husband Bill thought I was pregnant… and she asked me if I was. I was completely shocked because I hadn’t said a word and I was focusing on her all morning. I thought I was being pretty stealth (ha!), but apparently he saw right through me!
Anyways, it was so much fun taking these pictures and I was extra special doing it now that we are preparing for our own little one in only… 7 MONTHS!! Congratulations Bill, Felicia, David… Ella Grace is beautiful!!
