Julie is my best friend.
I have been so incredibly thankful to have her in my life and it has been a crazy year looking ahead to this wedding weekend. I flew in early to help with last minute details and catch up with her before everyone else wanted a piece of her. You know how that is, if you are friends with a bride or groom, it seems like everyone is fighting for their attention/crowding around during those last few days and hours before the “Big DAY”. At least that’s how it feels to me.
The trip began as Joy and I arrive (Julie’s very good friend and college roommate). We went out to have pizza on Wednesday night in the middle of a tornado. We sat around praying that the power would make it long enough to just cook our pizza. It did.
The next day (Thursday), we got to go to J + H’s apt and see all that she has done to prepare. It is the bottom floor of an older home a few blocks over in her parents neighborhood. It is also a few blocks from the school Julie works at and close to the library for Haddon as he makes his way through seminary. Cute & Cozy (two of my mom’s favorite words). Joy and I sent Julie off to have lunch with Haddon as we did some more cleaning and organizing for her. She came back a couple hours later feeling refreshed with a full stomach and clean apt! Yay!
That evening several of Julie’s college friends arrived from pretty much all over. We made a night of it and went out to eat, walked on the beach and of course, out for ice cream. It was fun meeting new people and catching up with old friends, add a beautiful sunset and it was pretty much perfect. (disclaimer: I did not edit the friend pictures so everyone looks a bit rosy from the sky!)
Friday…all the last minute details. I personally think Thursday is the last day to panic about anything, but Friday had some things to work out…like nails. We (Julie, her mom and the other bridesmaids) all went to the Salon for manicure and pedicures. I forgot how stinkin good those pedicures feel, especially with the hour long massage chair doing its magic. We went back to J’s house for lunch in the sun and a quick nap.
One of my gifts to Julie and Haddon was to take some pictures of them before the rehearsal and dinner. I know this isn’t typically part of the picture-taking-packed weekend, but after a year of long distance (gross), we thought it would be something light and carefree to do. And it was. They were super cute and flirty which made my job e-a-s-y. I love almost all of them and wish I could post them all.
Check out some of my favorites below along with some detail shots from their wedding. (I was good and kept my camera down since I was actually IN this wedding!)
Congratulations Julie & Haddon! Love you! ~Sarah
