The Knot: Incentives

I am only in my first month of marketing with The Knot, but I am very excited about a few incentives that they offer to help photographers get in touch with brides. Some may think that it is not worth the investment (and though I’m still waiting to see if it will pay for itself), I think the incentives put me a strong position to make the most out of my money.

Every month new brides are signing up, creating a profile, and collecting their favorite vendors in one spot. It is a powerful tool for them to see all the vendors they’ve viewed and liked as they begin their search. On my end, The Knot gives me an advantage as well. Each month they email me a list of brides that have signed up for a profile in South Carolina the month prior. For example, at the beginning of April, I received a list of all the SC brides that signed up in March. This almost always mean they are newly engaged and out to plan their dream wedding. With the help of Groovy Graphics I am now able to mail a custom postcard to each bride and even offer a discount for mentioning The Knot if they contact me to photograph their wedding. AMAZING.

The second incentive is a Wedding Channel Deal. Every day a new photographer is able to post a “Groupon” of the day. For example, when it is my turn, I can say “Engagement session are $99.00 TODAY ONLY for the first 5 brides who sign up!!” My ad will be THE ONLY ONE going on that particular day, and it gives brides a chance to connect with me and see my work before they choose me for their wedding. I can make this Deal whatever I want it to be… whatever I think will catch a bride’s eye and bring me the most opportunities.
